PRESIDENT OF RUSSIA
Vladimir Putin signed an instruction to hold the National Forum Future Intellectual Leaders of Russia in Yaroslavl.
Vladimir Putin will meet with President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev in Almaty on February 27. The two presidents are expected to discuss current bilateral cooperation in trade and the economy, culture and the humanitarian sector, energy and outer space, and also key issues on the international agenda. The two leaders will also examine some aspects of further steps in the Eurasian integration process.
The same day, Mr Putin will make an official visit to Dushanbe at the invitation of President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. Mr Putin and Mr Rahmon will exchange views on the outlook for trade, investment, cultural, science and education cooperation between Russia and Tajikistan, and will discuss a number of regional issues. A package of bilateral agreements will be signed following the talks.
On February 28, the President will make an official visit to Bishkek at the invitation of President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev. The two presidents will discuss a broad range of bilateral cooperation matters in the political, economic and humanitarian areas, and also the prospects for expanding cooperation within the Eurasian Economic Union.
Law ratifying the Agreement on establishment and activity of joint investigation and operations groups on CIS territory
Vladimir Putin signed Federal Law On Ratification of the Agreement on Procedures for Establishment and Activity of Joint Investigation and Operations Groups on the Territory of the Commonwealth of Independent States Member States.
On February 23, Vladimir Putin will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, meet with Northern Fleet officers, and with the heads of delegations of countries taking part in the 3rd CISM World Military Winter Games
The President will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier by the Kremlin wall on February 23. Also taking part in the ceremony will be 1941–1945 Great Patriotic War veterans, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Anton Vaino, Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, and other state and political figures.
The same day, Mr Putin will meet with Northern Fleet officers who distinguished themselves during combat and service missions in the Mediterranean and off the Syrian coast.
The President will meet with the heads of the 3rd CISM World Military Winter Games, which will take place in Sochi on February 24–28. The games are organised by the International Military Sports Council, the biggest sports organisation after the International Olympic Committee and the International University Sports Federation. More than 400 military service personnel from 26 countries will take part in the competition.
Later in the day, Vladimir Putin will take part in a gala evening marking the Defenders of the Fatherland holiday and will congratulate military service personnel and armed forces veterans on the occasion.
Sberbank CEO and Chairman of the Board German Gref briefed Vladimir Putin on the bank’s 2016 performance results and its current activities, including the prospects for developing mortgage lending, and new financial support mechanisms for the defence industry and agricultural sector businesses.
The President signed the Executive Order On Awarding Vitaly Churkin the Order of Courage.
Sergei Sobyanin updated the President on Moscow’s socioeconomic development in 2016, the implementation of several large transport projects, including the launch of the Moscow Central Circle (MCC) railway line, and renovation of the housing stock.
The President signed the Executive Order On the Early Termination of Powers of the Tomsk Region Governor.
Sergei Zhvachkin updated the President on the socioeconomic situation in the region.
In keeping with the Law On the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin confirmed the list of 40 Russian citizens who have done outstanding service to the nation and invited them to join the Civic Chamber.
Vladimir Putin expressed condolences to the family and friends and to the entire Foreign Ministry staff following the death of Vitaly Churkin, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
Vitaly Churkin died in New York today at the age of 64. He headed Russia’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations since 2006.
Vladimir Putin met with Vladimir Mau, Rector of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) and member of the Presidential Economic Council. Mr Mau told the President about key areas of the Academy’s work and ways for improving training of future public administration staff.
Vladimir Putin had a working meeting with Education and Science Minister Olga Vasilyeva to discuss the current situation in sphere of science, in particular, support for young scientists.
