On October 8–10, Vladimir Putin will make a state visit to Tajikistan and will attend the second Russia–Central Asia Summit as well as a meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council
The President's state visit will include talks with President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. The two leaders are to discuss the development of the strategic partnership and allied relationship between Russia and Tajikistan in various areas. A joint statement by the heads of state, as well as a number of international, intergovernmental, and interdepartmental agreements are to be signed following the talks.
The agenda of the second Russia–Central Asia Summit will include issues pertaining to further strengthening of cooperation between Russia and the nations of the region in trade and economy, finance, industry, logistics, energy, and other sectors. Particular attention will be paid to the issue of ensuring regional security in light of the tense situation in both Afghanistan and the Middle East. A final communiqué and a Joint Action Plan for 2025–2027 are to be adopted.
The meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council will serve as an opportunity to address the practical dimension of cooperation within the CIS, establish key areas for future work, and discuss pressing international and regional issues. A number of important documents will be adopted, including in particular external border security cooperation programmes for 2026–2030, programmes for combating terrorism and extremism for 2026–2028, a concept for military cooperation until 2030, a joint statement on cooperation in countering transnational crime, and a declaration on cooperation in ensuring regional energy security. In addition, the meeting is to approve the decisions to establish the CIS Plus format and to grant observer status in the CIS to the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.
Additionally, while in Dushanbe, Vladimir Putin is to hold bilateral meetings with a number of foreign leaders.

In a phone call, President of the Republic of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan gave birthday greetings to Vladimir Putin, offering his best wishes.
The two leaders briefly discussed several pressing bilateral matters before exchanging views on the latest developments in the Middle East, as well as those pertaining to Ukraine.
