Vladimir Putin was updated on flood situation in Orenburg, Kurgan and Tyumen regions
Vladimir Putin received reports on the flood situation from governors of three regions – the Orenburg, Kurgan and Tyumen regions. A separate report was presented by Emergencies Minister Alexander Kurenkov, who once again arrived at the site to monitor the relief effort as chairman of the government commission on flood relief and assistance to the residents of the flooded areas.
In addition, following a telephone conversation between the President of Russia and President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev earlier today, instructions were issued to the prime ministers of both countries to take the situation under control and ensure bilateral coordination in order to synchronise flood control efforts and flood loss management.

The President continues to receive reports on floods in a number of Russian regions
Vladimir Putin has been briefed by Emergencies Minister Alexander Kurenkov, Orenburg Region Governor Denis Pasler, Kurgan Region Governor Vadim Shumkov, and Tyumen Region Governor Alexander Moor on the situation in the areas affected by the floods and the actions being taken to assist people in the flood and evacuation zones, as well as those in flood-prone areas.
After receiving these reports, the President instructed the Government to establish a special commission led by Emergencies Minister Alexander Kurenkov.
In addition, Vladimir Putin heard reports from the heads of relevant agencies involved in the emergency relief efforts.

The President discussed the flood situation with Kurgan Region Governor Vadim Shumkov and Tyumen Region Governor Alexander Moor, focusing on the possible scenarios of the expected sharp rise in flood waters.
It was stressed that flooding was inevitable as local water control structures had to discharge more water due to the worst flood in the past 100 years.
The need to take proactive measures to provide assistance to people and possibly evacuate the population was noted. The President continues to receive regular updates from the sites of natural anomalies.
Vladimir Putin instructed the Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev to ensure the adoption of necessary measures to maintain law and order and protect the property of citizens in the areas that are already in the flood zone as well as in the regions where flooding is expected within the next few days.

Orenburg Region Governor Denis Pasler and Emergencies Minister Alexander Kurenkov updated Vladimir Putin on the current flood situation in the Orenburg Region around the city of Orsk. The Emergencies Minister informed the President mostly about the number of people evacuated and moved to temporary accommodation centres.
In his discussion with Alexander Kurenkov, the President emphasised the importance of carrying out timely analysis, making forecasts and taking appropriate measures with regard to the potential flooding threat in the Kurgan and Tyumen regions. Vladimir Putin plans to hold telephone conversations with the heads of these regions on Sunday.
