Die nordkurdische Provinz Colemêrg (tr. Hakkari) ist von Repression, Krieg und Widerstand geprägt. Immer wieder wird die Bevölkerung von Militär und Polizei terrorisiert. So gab es wohl nur durch Glück keine Toten, als am Samstag mehrere Geschosse in einem Almgebiet niedergingen. Mindestens fünf Detonationen waren zu hören, nachdem von einem türkischen Militärstützpunkt im zentral gelegenen Dorf Bayê Granaten auf die Hochweide Merga Bûtan abgeschossen wurden. In der Region befinden sich zivile Siedlungen und auch ein Skigebiet, Militäroperationen laufen derzeit offenbar nicht. Warum die Geschosse abgefeuert wurden, blieb unklar. Bei der Bevölkerung verursachten die Explosionen Panik.

Democrats are going after Jill Stein with surprising ferocity this election cycle, with their favorite line of attack being that the Green Party doesn’t win elections.

At an appearance on the radio show The Breakfast Club with her running mate Butch Ware, Stein was slammed by host Angela Rye over her ongoing feud with celebrity congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

“The one thing that AOC has done that you haven’t is win some elections,” Rye said. 

This line was later picked up by AOC, who tweeted, “Nobody needs talking points to know Jill Stein hasn’t won so much as a bingo game in the last decade and if you actually give a damn about people, you organize, build power and infrastructure, and win.”

We’ve been seeing this “hurr hurr you don’t win anything” attack line from liberals against the left more and more lately. There’s a meme that’s become popular in shitlib circles this year featuring a left-punching rant by the YouTuber Contrapoints about leftists who attack the Democratic Party, saying, “They don’t want victory. They don’t want power. They want to endlessly ‘critique’ power.”

And it’s so obnoxious. It’s like yes, you win elections under the current system by being a warmongering corporate whore. That’s the problem the real left is trying to address. Duh.

Yes, those who align themselves with the Democratic Party win elections. But then what do they do with that win once they’ve won? They commit fucking genocide. They start wars. They kill the ecosystem. They repay favors to the donor class at the expense of everyone else. Republicans also win elections, and then do these same things.

If the current system means you will lose elections unless you are loyal to a murderous, ecocidal, exploitative and tyrannical power structure, then is the problem really losing elections, or is the problem the current system? And how much of a “win” are you even capable of in such a system if you actually care about making the world a better place?

It’s like that old joke. A policeman sees a drunk man searching for something under a streetlight and asks what the drunk has lost. He says he lost his keys and they both look under the streetlight together. After a few minutes the policeman asks if he is sure he lost them here, and the drunk replies, no, that he lost them in the park. The policeman asks why he is searching here, and the drunk replies, “this is where the light is.”

Sure the Democratic Party is where the light is, but it ain’t where the keys are. You can spend your whole life getting the “win” of being where the light is, but it will never get you the keys of peace, justice and a healthy world. Democrats going “hurr hurr, you never win anything” are standing under the streetlight boasting about how easily they can see the ground and making fun of the poor saps out there crawling around in the darkness where the keys could actually be.

Some of the worst people in the world have won elections. It’s not enough to win, you’ve got to do good things with your win. Democrats do not do good things when they win, they do profoundly, shockingly evil things when they win. This is a problem, and the real adults in the room are trying to fix it by changing the system which is responsible for it.

The task of changing a profoundly corrupt and abusive system won’t look like a lot of wins at first. At first it will look like anything else would look when a very small group of people with no power go up against a vastly larger and stronger power structure. The idea is that by fighting you spread awareness of the fact that conditions are unacceptable and that a better world is possible, and the more eyes open to this reality, the more hands there will be to help in the fight. 

It’s still early days, and wins are still very few and far between. But at least it’s a fight, instead of the direct perpetration of tyranny and abuse that’s on offer from the Democratic Party.

The occupied Syrian Golan, SANA-Since the early morning hours, convoys of farmers in the occupied Syrian Golan have been heading to their orchards extending over vast areas between the villages of Baqatha, Majdal Shams and Masada, with the start of the apple harvest season this year, despite the Israeli occupation’s restrictions on them as part of its ongoing aggressive practices.

SANA’s correspondent in the Golan accompanied the farmers on the harvesting trip, and quoted them as saying that this year’s season was good in terms of quantity and quality, unlike previous years, in addition to the fact that prices are still acceptable so far, indicating that they have intensified their interest in the apple season to compensate for their losses in the cherry season.

Youssef Shams, head of the Golan apple import committee to Syria, said: As for the quantities of apples, they are good this season, despite the differences between one region and another, indicating that the areas planted with apples in the Golan are estimated at 15 thousand dunams, 4 thousand of which face the risk of the occupation seizing them under the pretext of implementing the turbine plan.

Die Menschenrechtsorganisation Pro Asyl setzt sich ein für den Schutz von Flüchtlingen in Deutschland und Europa. Der Förderverein der Frankfurter Organisation hat jetzt ein wissenschaftliches Gutachten „Zur Lage der Justiz in der Türkei. Rechtsunsicherheit in Strafverfahren mit politischem Bezug“ veröffentlicht. Die umfangreiche und unabhängige Dokumentation beschäftigt sich mit dem Zustand der türkischen Strafjustiz. Der Schwerpunkt liegt auf den inflationären und als willkürlich wahrgenommenen Anklagen wegen „Terrorismus“, mit denen der türkische Staat missliebiges politisches Handeln zu verhindern versucht.

Kurd:innen am häufigsten von „Terrorismusvorwürfen“ konfrontiert

Die Autor:innen des Gutachtens sind zwei Rechtswissenschaftler:innen. Sie haben Anwält:innen in der Türkei interviewt, Urteile türkischer Gerichte und des Europäischen Gerichtshofs für Menschenrechte (EGMR) ausgewertet und kommen zu dem Fazit: „Strafverfahren wegen entsprechender Vorwürfe verlaufen nicht rechtsstaatlich. Betroffene Personen haben keine Möglichkeit, dem mit Mitteln des Rechts effektiv zu begegnen. […] Im Vergleich zu den 1990er und 2000er Jahren hat sich die („versteckte“) politisch motivierte Anwendung von Strafverfahren, insbesondere von Terrorismusgesetzen, zwar auch auf andere Gruppen als Kurden und Linke ausgeweitet, doch sind Kurden heute mehr als jede andere Gruppe dem Risiko ausgesetzt, zur Zielscheibe politischer Strafverfahren zu werden und wegen terrorismusbezogener Straftaten angeklagt zu werden.“

Türkische Justiz nicht unabhängig

Das Gutachten weist nach, dass Unabhängigkeit, Unparteilichkeit sowie die Wahrung von Verfahrensrechten im türkischen Justizsystem nicht gegeben sind. Das sollte vor allem deutsche Gerichte interessieren, die sich in ihren Bewertungen immer noch zu oft auf eine unterstellte Rechtsstaatlichkeit türkischer Justiz berufen. Die für mehrere Bereiche dokumentierte Aushebelung des Rechts in der Türkei dürfte auch relevant sein im Hinblick auf die sogenannte Verfolgungsermächtigung. Sie sieht bekanntlich eine strafrechtliche Verfolgung dann als gerechtfertigt an, wenn gegen „die Grundwerte einer die Würde des Menschen achtenden staatlichen Ordnung“ verstoßen wird. Deutsche Richter:innen unterstellen in Verfahren gegen kurdische Aktivist:innen regelmäßig, der türkische Staat sei eine solche, die Würde des Menschen achtende staatliche Ordnung und somit ein „taugliches Schutzgut“ im Sinne des §129b StGB. Anwält:innen bezweifeln dies schon lange, doch bisher wurden ihre Einwände immer ignoriert.

Gutachten muss für BAMF Konsequenzen haben

Auch für das Bundesamt für Migration und Flüchtlinge (BAMF) müsste das Gutachten Konsequenzen haben bei Entscheidungen über Asylanträge. Kein politisch Verfolgter kann in der Türkei mit einem rechtsstaatlichen Verfahren rechnen. Das betrifft vor allem schutzsuchende Kurd:innen, deren Schutzquote noch immer weit unterhalb derer von türkischen Antragsstellenden liegt, die jedoch am meisten von ausufernden Anschuldigungen wegen „Terrorismus“ betroffen sind.

„Wenn Unrecht zu Recht wird, wird Widerstand zur Pflicht!“

Derzeit liefert sich in Deutschland die Ampelregierung bei der Abwehr von Migrant:innen mit Rechtspopulisten und Neo-Faschisten einen Wettbewerb in Sachen Menschenfeindlichkeit und Rassismus. Im neuen „Sicherheitspaket“ von Innenministerin Nancy Faeser (SPD) werden Grundrechte in Frage gestellt und europäisches Recht ausgehebelt. Ein Blick in die Türkei zeigt, wie schnell der Umbau zum Unrechtsstaat gehen kann. Die Erinnerung an Berthold Brecht mahnt: „Wenn Unrecht zu Recht wird, wird Widerstand zur Pflicht!“

In der türkischen Metropole Istanbul sind sechs Kurden wegen des vermeintlichen Verdachts der Mitgliedschaft in einer „Terrororganisation“ verhaftet worden. Die Aktivisten, bei denen es sich um Mitglieder der DEM-Partei handelt, waren am Dienstag mit weiteren Personen bei polizeilichen Razzien in Gewahrsam genommen worden. Sie werden beschuldigt, sich mitgliedschaftlich für die Arbeiterpartei Kurdistans (PKK) zu beteiligen, wie ihr Rechtsbeistand am Samstag mitteilte.

Worauf sich die Anschuldigung konkret bezieht, ist allerdings unklar; die Ermittlungsakte wurde als Geheimhaltungssache eingestuft. Unter den Verhafteten ist auch der erst kürzlich nach zehnjähriger Haft aus dem Gefängnis entlassene Mazlum Korkmaz. Gegen vier Personen verhängte das Gericht eine Ausreisesperre und polizeiliche Meldeauflagen. Sie müssen nun regelmäßig bei den Behörden vorstellig werden und dürfen das Land nicht verlassen.

In der Türkei finden nahezu täglich Festnahmeoperationen gegen die kurdisch-demokratische Opposition statt. Wer sich politisch, sozial oder zivilgesellschaftlich engagiert, weiß beim Einschlafen nie, ob am Morgen die Wohnungstür von der Polizei eingeschlagen wird. In der Regel sind es Aktive und Handelnde der HDP-Nachfolgerin DEM, die aus dem Weg geräumt werden sollen. Der drittgrößten Kraft im türkischen Parlament wird Verbundenheit mit der PKK vorgeworfen. Die Partei weist die Vorwürfe zurück und kritisiert das Vorgehen gegen ihre Mitglieder und Unterstützende als politisch motiviert.

Weitere Verhaftung in Izmir

Zu einer weiteren Verhaftung wegen eines angeblichen Terrorverdachts kam es in Izmir. Betroffen von dem Vorgehen ist Yaren Tuncer, ehemalige Ko-Vorsitzende der Föderation sozialistischer Jugendvereine (SGDF). Die Aktivistin war ebenfalls am Dienstag festgenommen worden, auch drei weitere Mitglieder der Jugendorganisation der Partei ESP hatte die Polizei in Gewahrsam genommen. In ihrem Fall geht es um den Vorwurf, an „illegalen Demonstrationen“ am Frauenkampftag 8. März sowie am Tag der Arbeit am 1. Mai teilgenommen zu haben.

New Delhi, SANA-The Syrian Ambassador to India, Dr. Bassam al-Khatib, offered condolences on the demise of the leader of the Marxist Communist Party of India, Sitaram Yechury , who passed away on the twelfth of September, after a struggle with illness.

Ambassador al-Khatib wrote a word in the register of condolences at the headquarters of the Communist Party of India-Marxist in New Delhi Saturday, in which he praised the merits of Yechury , who played a prominent role in defending the issues of Syria and the Palestinian people at the international and local levels.

The ambassador met the family of the deceased and the leaders of the Communist Party of India-Marxist, and stressed the good relationship with the late leader, conveying to them the condolences of Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Fayssal Mikdad.

Moscow, SANA- The activities of the seventh BRICS Media Summit kicked off Saturday in the Russian capital of Moscow in the presence of heads and representatives of 60 media organizations from 45 countries, including the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

The summit which is hosted by Russian news agency TASS themed on the role of the media in a multipolar world, issues of media security in the modern world, and technical aspects of information and news exchange.

In a televised speech during the summit, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stressed that the BRICS group is considered a unique mechanism for multifaceted cooperation, noting that within the framework of the organization fruitful cooperation is being carried out between countries representing different civilizations and geographical regions.

“We note with satisfaction the growing interest of most countries in the world in this group, which initially included five countries, and the number of its members has now reached ten, and more than thirty countries have submitted applications to join it,” the Russian Foreign Minister said.

He explained that the Russian chairmanship of the BRICS group this year is taking place under the motto “Consolidating multilateralism for comprehensive development and security.”

Lavrov noted that in view of the historical inevitability of the emergence of a multipolar global system, the demand for the professional work of journalists and media professionals is increasing, regardless of their type of activity.

He also emphasized that media cooperation within the BRICS framework is being consolidated and strengthened, and media exchanges and cooperation in general are intensifying between the member countries of the aforementioned organization.

Die türkische Armee zieht weitere Truppenkontingente in der Kurdistan-Region des Irak (KRI) zusammen. In der Nacht zum Samstag wurden neue Truppenverlegungen und Rüstungstransporte nach Dêrelûk beobachtet. Das Städten liegt östlich von Amêdî, das sich im Fokus der seit Monaten laufenden Besatzungsoperation der Türkei im südlichen Kurdistan befindet.

Wie die Nachrichtenagentur RojNews berichtete, rollte der türkische Militärkonvoi unter dem Schutz der Peschmerga-Truppen der PDK (Demokratische Partei Kurdistans) nach Dêreluk. Seit Ende August kommt es dort wieder häufig zur Aufstockung von Besatzern und Kriegsmaterial. Besonders intensive Truppenkonzentrationen finden am Dêreluk-Staudamm statt. Von dort gelangt man zu den Tunnelanlagen der Guerilla der Arbeiterpartei Kurdistans (PKK) in der Zap-Region.

Die vom Barzanî-Clan dominierte Partei unterstützt die Besatzungsbestrebungen des türkischen Staates offen und flankiert regelmäßig die Erhöhung der türkischen Truppenstärke in der KRI. An vielen Angriffen gegen die PKK-Guerilla, gegen die sich das Vorgehen offiziell richtet, ist die PDK direkt beteiligt. Innerhalb der kurdischen Bevölkerung stößt die Kollaboration der Barzanîs mit Ankara auf breite Ablehnung.
