Ministry of Social Affairs, Finnish Relief Organization sign cooperation agreement
Damascus-SANA, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Fadi al-Qassem, signed Tuesday a cooperation agreement with the Finnish Relief Organization, in a step aimed at enhancing local partnerships and supporting social development.
The Ministry of Social Affairs explained through its Telegram channel that the agreement aims to enhance cooperation in the field of community protection and the active labor market.
The agreement includes the implementation of programs and projects that support the neediest groups, and provide opportunities for vocational training and qualification, contributing to the empowerment of individuals and achieving social and economic stability.

SARC holds emergency meeting to discuss urgent humanitarian needs in Lattakia and Tartous
Damascus, SANA- The Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) held an emergency meeting on Tuesday, chaired by the organization’s president, Dr. Hazem Baqleh, with the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Delegation in Syria, Stephan Sakalian, and representatives of humanitarian partners in the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, to discuss urgent humanitarian needs in Lattakia and Tartous.
As mentioned by the organization through its Telegram channel, the meeting addressed the mechanisms of cooperation and coordination to meet humanitarian needs in the two governorates, and an agreement was reached to mobilize resources to respond to these needs, alleviating the suffering and difficult conditions of the residents, while continuing humanitarian efforts across Syria.

Health Ministry discusses ways to support healthcare sector with British UK-Med and Cadus organizations
Damascus, SANA- Director of Planning and International Cooperation at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Zuhair Qarrat, discussed Tuesday with a delegation from the UK-based emergency health response organizations, UK-Med and Cadus, ways to enhance and support the healthcare sector in Syria at the level of human resources services and overall needs.
During the meeting held at the ministry, the two sides discussed the healthcare sector’s needs and identified priorities to start a new partnership with these organizations after completing legal procedures.
The delegation expressed its readiness to support the healthcare sector in Syria in terms of rapid emergency response by providing consumables, medicines, and equipment, as well as contributing to the rehabilitation and restoration of healthcare facilities. Additionally, they showed a willingness to support primary and secondary healthcare programs, referral and emergency systems.
Dr. Qarrat emphasized the importance of partnership with entities and organizations that provide healthcare to individuals affected by disasters or conflicts and the necessity of exchanging innovative and sustainable projects focused on medical care.

Within “Damascus Goes Green” Campaign, 3,500 trees planted in Qasioun area
Damascus, SANA- Within the recently launched ” Damascus Goes Green ” campaign by Damascus Governorate, the Parks Directorate, in cooperation with volunteer teams, planted approximately 3,500 trees in the Unknown Soldier area on Mount Qasioun in Damascus.
The supervisor of the Parks Directorate in the governorate, Eng. Sabri Abbas, stated to SANA that the planted trees included Jacaranda, Carob, Elm, and Hackberry.
He noted that the “” Damascus Goes Green” campaign also involves planting Bitter Orange, Chinaberry, ornamental plants, and roses in public squares, gardens, medians, roadsides, and schools to restore the greenery of Damascus.
Abbas emphasized the importance of promoting a culture of environmental preservation and highlighting tree-planting campaigns, their care, and their environmental and aesthetic benefits.

EU: Syria Support Conference will be an opportunity to exchange views with Syrian authorities
Brussels, SANA- European Union (EU) spokesperson, Anita Heiber has confirmed that the “Syria Support Conference,” to be held in the Belgian capital Brussels on March 17, will be an opportunity to exchange views with Syrian authorities.
In a statement Tuesday, Heiber clarified that the conference will indeed be an important occasion to continue exchanging views with Syrian authorities regarding the situation on the ground, and to understand how best to provide support.
“From our side, we must spare no effort to support a peaceful and comprehensive transition free from any foreign intervention, ensuring the rights of all Syrians without discrimination,” she said.
Heiber also noted that Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani is invited to attend this conference.
